Winter Solstice is an Unreal III Mod. While a deathmatch at it's core the emphasis was to slow down the pace in this sprawling arena.
Player startpoints are placed near the environment's fringe. Players are given only a Snowboard (aka Hoverboard) and a Sniper Rifle at the onset. No Ammo is provided
on the outer tier so players are forced towards the center once their original ammo is spent.
Once a player drops down to the
center area, close combat weapons become available and combat falls more to the "usual" twitch style of a deathmatch event.
All static images were provided from Unreal III as were the textures. The main building is made up of a mix of static elements and custom BSPs.
All terraforming, item placement and level design are custom.
